The Flu is coming the Flu is coming!!!

Influenza(flu) is here everyone and each year we have a new strain that takes a toll on everyone especially our children and adults. Flu symptoms can be mild or severe — and if they’re mild it can become severe without much notice. Be aware of your body and monitor your body temperature. Flu symptoms can come on suddenly — be sure you know your treatment and prevention options so you can be prepare. It's best to say anytime your body doesn't feel right always check with your Doctor. You must remeber that you don't need to experience all of these symptoms to have the flu.If you have one or two,it's recommended that you see your doctor. The flu usually spreads from person to person in respiratory droplets when people who are infected cough or sneeze. People occasionally may become infected by touching something with influenza virus on it and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes.

Healthy adults may be able to infect others 1 day before getting symptoms and up to 5days after getting sick. Therefore, it is possible to give someone the flu before you know you are sick as well as while you are sick.So while we go through this season of Flu strains it's best to make sure you WASH YOUR HANDS CONSTANLY make sure to cover your mouth when coughing and please be considerate of others..some people have very low immune systems which allows them to catch the flu much easier then others.

Some symptoms to look at are:

Fever (usually high)
Headache
Muscle aches
Chills
Extreme tiredness
Dry cough

Runny nose may also occur but is more common in children than adults
Stomach symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, may also occur but are more common in children than adults.

Again this is just my medical opinion...PLEASE SEEK YOUR OWN PHYSICAN AT ALL TIMES:

Enjoy your winter!!!

What has happen to our children!!

As I sit here this wonderful cold day...I think to myself What Has Happen To Our Children! From the day they where born we as parents have always been excited, loving, caring and over protected of them.I just can't understand what has gone wrong with our kids. Remember the times we use to play Red Light Green Light or Mother May I or Hide And Seek and lets not forget the Rock Scissor Game! Back in the day we would fight with our fist not using any weapons especially GUNS....we would fight and walk away either with a good butt whipping or as a loser...never thinking about revenge on the person. We never thought about killing ourselves or our class mates nor thinking about doing any bodily harm to anyone. People I ask have we lost our children..do you think we can get them back to respecting themselves as well as respecting others. I beleive we Can! I think about all this because my daughter who is in College was just threaten by someone she use to go to High School with..apparently he likes here and she is not interested but he has made it clear that he will do bodily harm to himself and maybe to her......all this is written on his Face book page. Well as a parent this concerns me Very Much and I notified her Uncles that are Officers of the Law...they in return have notified the College and her as to what steps to take...but the sad thing to me is What is wrong with him....What is he lacking....Where did this go wrong...this is something as a parent I would have to ask him. I'm not mad at all at him but I'm concern that he even feels this way....as a parent I want to reach out to him to offer him support and to help him gain confidence in himself. In the times that we live in any threat should be taken serious because we just never know what anyone would do. As I am writing this I hear on the news where a school has closed..Lamphere School...due to a threat ....a bomb threat at that. What has happen to our children what suggestions do you have to share to help our children. As parents we all can make a difference...talk to your children..find if anything may be bothering him/ her let them know that their is lots of help out there to assist them with the anger...let them know it's OK to be different. We need to come together to Help Our Children!!

Let me know your thoughts!!!

Thank you and May God Bless Us All!!!

November Is Diabetes Month!!!

November is Diabetes Month and this disease is very dear to my heart...my husband,my mom, my father(diseased)my brother and many friends that I know either has diabetes or some of their loves ones has diabetes. Diabetes is a very scary disease if you don't really understand it.. it also is a deadly disease with out the proper medical care. There are millions diagnosed everyday with this disease but one thing for sure you can live a productive life if you are following your medical doctor orders by taking medication thoroughly when ordered. Sometime it can take a toll on the body when he/she is not complying with Doctors orders.

Nearly all people with diabetes have abnormal cholesterol levels which contribute to their increased risk for heart attack and stroke. By choosing foods wisely, increasing physical activity and taking medications, you can improve your cholesterol.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.
There are 23.6 million children and adults in the United States, or 7.8% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 17.9 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 5.7 million people (or nearly one quarter) are unaware that they have the disease.
In order to determine whether or not a patient has pre-diabetes or diabetes, health care providers conduct a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test (FPG) or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT).

Major Types of Diabetes

Type 1 diabetesResults from the body's failure to produce insulin, the hormone that "unlocks" the cells of the body, allowing glucose to enter and fuel them. It is estimated that 5-10% of Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 1 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes Results from insulin resistance (a condition in which the body fails to properly use insulin), combined with relative insulin deficiency. Most Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 2 diabetes.

Gestational diabetes Immediately after pregnancy, 5% to 10% of women with gestational diabetes are found to have diabetes, usually, type 2.

Pre-diabetes Pre-diabetes is a condition that occurs when a person's blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. There are 57 million Americans who have pre-diabetes, in addition to the 23.6 million with diabetes.
What is High Blood Sugar?
