Medication for bedwetting ...do it really work! Well honestly I think it may work for some kids and for others not.Me I don't think I would like to put my child on medication sometimes the side affects are worse then the actual problem it's self. Take for instance the DDAVP(Desmopressin Acetate) nasal spray...yes nasal spray that is available to help prevent bedwetting. Boy I can't believe it... you probly are saying that as well but it's true. The nasal spray carries a synthetic version of a hormone called vasopressin which is normally made in the body.Vasopressin serves several roles, one of which is in water regulation. When the body needs more water in the blood stream,it produces higher levels of vasopressin which in turn cause more water to be absorbed from the kidney.Less urine is made and the urine becomes more concentrated.WOW! can you imagine a nasal spray that will help you to retain water and decrease the amount of urine produced. This might be helpful but that I don't know when you look at the side affects who would want to allow there children or love ones to try such a spray. My concern would be the use of this medication would cause serious side effects like water intoxication. That's when the body holds on to too much water and the salt of the body becomes too diluted. This can cause seizures and brain swelling.
Well as for me and all the children and elderly adults that I speak for. NO THANKS !!!
Again I say just because your love one is having this problem of incontinence do not mean it's the end of the world. Take the time just to let them know that they are not alone and there is so much support out there for them.
The next time you come across this issue with your love one: Take a moment and breath then hug them and tell them it's alright we will get through this together.
Until Next Time: GOD BLESS
